Because...
I'm bored, and I'm frustrated, and tired, I won't be doing a cool battle scene untill tommorow, sorry, but here is an example of some of the ancients...
Top left, is the Ancients commander, they always wear their cloaks shut when not in combat... when in combat, well... lets put it this way, they put a fision reactor to shame in the amount of electricity they let produce. They lead all the Legions, and often over see project personally.
Engineer is right next to him, each of those wire coming out of him can attach to a tool to be used, they are incharge of repairs and development to all Ancient technology.
Under both of them is the Guardian Class Ancient, they can sync in with ancient vehicals via the wire on their back, their hands care detachable to be replaced by weapons. Next to him are the energy sheild, which uses magnetic fields to defelct both energy and physical attacks, a light lancer, which is like a hand held rail gun, the shard launched is super sharp and retains the electricity that arcs into it from the magnetic rails, then the heavy, lancer, which fires a larger version of the light lancer's projectile, same princable. The two sets of legs are also able to replace a normal guardian's legs, the jump legs, and the heavy weapons legs (set up to lock into the ground and be more stable firing base)

More on the ancients tommorow... and a story update.

I Know
I know who you are. I know where you are. The Oracle sees all. The camp is not all it seems to be. Don't eat the burger tomorrow. It'll taste bad. You will also lose a game of Unreal tournament.
